Two Years of Divinity: Celebrating the Glory of Ram Mandir, Ayodhya
On January 22, 2024, the heartbeat of a civilization found its rhythm again. As the winter sun rose over the Sarayu River, a 500-year-old dream culminated in a moment that brought the world to a standstill—the Pran Pratishtha (consecration) of Ram Lalla at the majestic Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

To celebrate this auspicious occasion, we have created a special musical tribute capturing the divine aura of Ayodhya.

Today, as we mark the anniversary of this epochal event, the emotions are just as raw and the devotion just as fervent. Whether you are a devotee who wept tears of joy watching the live telecast or a traveler planning your first pilgrimage to this holy city, the Ram Mandir stands not just as a structure of stone, but as a testament to patience, resilience, and faith.
In this article, we delve deep into the saga of the Ram Mandir—from its historic struggle and architectural marvels to the grand anniversary celebrations of 2026.
The Historic Significance: A 500-Year Wait
The story of the Ram Mandir is woven into the very fabric of India’s spiritual identity. Ayodhya, the birthplace of Maryada Purushottam Prabhu Shri Ram, has been a center of reverence for millennia. However, history witnessed a turbulent chapter when the original structure was lost in the 16th century.
What followed was a struggle spanning five centuries. It was a journey marked by legal battles, archaeological excavations, and the unyielding faith of millions. The turning point arrived on November 9, 2019, when the Supreme Court of India delivered a unanimous verdict handing over the disputed land for the construction of the Ram Temple.
On August 5, 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone (Bhoomi Pujan), setting the wheels of construction in motion. And finally, on January 22, 2024, the “Balak Ram” (child form of Lord Ram) returned to his rightful abode. The Pran Pratishtha ceremony was not just a ritual; it was a cultural renaissance, symbolizing the triumph of truth and justice.
Architectural Marvel: The Nagara Style Masterpiece
The Ram Mandir is a breathtaking example of the Māru-Gurjara architecture (a form of the Nagara style), designed by the celebrated Sompura family of Ahmedabad. The sheer scale and detailing of the temple are designed to last for over 1,000 years without the use of steel or iron.
Key Architectural Features:
- No Iron Usage: The temple is constructed entirely using pink sandstone from Bansi Paharpur (Rajasthan) and granite. Iron was avoided to prevent corrosion over centuries. Instead, copper plates were used to fuse the stone blocks.
- Dimensions: Spanning 380 feet in length, 250 feet in width, and rising to a height of 161 feet, the temple is a towering symbol of devotion.
- Three Floors: The structure comprises three floors, each 20 feet high. The ground floor houses the sanctum sanctorum (Garbha Griha) with the idol of Ram Lalla. The first floor is dedicated to the Ram Darbar.
- Five Mandapas: The temple features five distinct halls—Nritya Mandap (Dance Hall), Rang Mandap (Color Hall), Sabha Mandap (Assembly Hall), Prarthana Mandap (Prayer Hall), and Kirtan Mandap (Chanting Hall).
- Surya Tilak: A marvel of engineering and astronomy, the temple is designed such that on Ram Navami, the sun’s rays are directed through a system of mirrors and lenses to fall directly on the forehead of the Ram Lalla idol, creating a divine “Surya Tilak.”
Every pillar and wall tells a story, adorned with over 4,000 intricate carvings of deities, celestial beings, and scenes from the Ramayana.
The Anniversary Celebrations: Tithi vs. Date
As we celebrate the anniversary in 2026, there is often confusion regarding the date. While the world remembers January 22 as the historic day of the inauguration, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust observes the anniversary according to the Hindu lunar calendar (Tithi).
- The Tithi Celebration: The consecration in 2024 took place on Paush Shukla Dwadashi. In the current timeline (late 2025/early 2026), this auspicious Tithi fell on December 31, 2025. On this day, Ayodhya witnessed grand Vedic rituals, a “Palki Yatra,” and special prayers led by dignitaries including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
- The Gregorian Celebration: However, for millions of devotees worldwide, January 22 remains the “Pran Pratishtha Diwas”—a fixed date to recall the historic moment. Today, social media is flooded with memories, and temples across the globe are lighting diyas (lamps) to mark two years of the deity’s presence.
This duality allows devotees to celebrate twice: once spiritually with the Vedic calendar, and once culturally with the rest of the world on January 22.
Inside the Sanctum: The Idol of Ram Lalla
The presiding deity, Ram Lalla Virajman, is a 51-inch statue carved from black Krishna Shila (stone) by the renowned Mysore sculptor Arun Yogiraj.
The idol depicts Lord Ram as a five-year-old child. The choice of black stone is significant as it is durable and does not react to milk or water during Abhishekam. The eyes of the idol are described as lotus-like, capturing a mix of child-like innocence and divine divinity. The idol stands on a lotus, holding a golden bow and arrow, symbolizing his future role as the protector of Dharma.
Navya Ayodhya: A City Transformed
The construction of the temple has triggered a massive transformation of Ayodhya itself. The sleepy town has awakened into a global spiritual capital.
- Infrastructure Boom: The new Maharishi Valmiki International Airport and the redeveloped Ayodhya Dham Railway Station now welcome millions of pilgrims.
- Corridors of Culture: The Ram Path, Bhakti Path, and Ram Janmabhoomi Path are wide, beautiful corridors adorned with murals and sunlight-adaptive streetlights, ensuring a smooth experience for pilgrims.
- Economic Revival: The temple has breathed new life into the local economy. From hotel chains to local artisans selling earthen lamps and flowers, the “Temple Economy” is thriving, providing livelihoods to thousands.
A Call to Devotion
The Ram Mandir is more than a destination; it is an emotion. It reminds us of the ideals of Lord Ram—sacrifice, integrity, and righteousness. As we mark this anniversary, it is a time to reflect on these values in our own lives.
Whether you have visited Ayodhya or are worshipping from home, the spirit of Ram Lalla connects us all. We poured this very spirit into our latest music video, a humble offering to the lotus feet of Shri Ram.
